I-MIDI offers an excellent scientific and interdisciplinary environment (http://charite-mikrobiologie.de), which currently brings together 80 scientists from more than 15 countries. To build on our recently published manuscript in *Nature Immunology* (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41590-025-02325-1), the Neuro-Immune Interaction Research Group is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for our project in the field of neuro-epithelial regulation of tissue and immune homeostasis. Overview of the position
- Conducting independent and collaborative research projects
- Flow cytometry, molecular biology techniques, organoids
- Sample preparation for single-cell technologies, analysis of the obtained data
- Implementing various protocols for isolating cells from the organs used, developing and optimizing laboratory protocols
- Independently organizing and conducting analyses and experiments
- Collaboration with research group leaders and postdocs
- Supervision of doctoral students and contribution to the laboratory’s overall research strategy
- You are engaged in scientific work: According to §110 (4), sentence 3 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG), scientific staff are entitled to an appropriate amount of time during working hours for their own scientific professional development
What we are looking for
- You have completed a university degree in a scientific field as well as a doctoral program (PhD or equivalent)
- Expertise in the fields of immunology, neuroscience, or epithelial cell biology is an asset
- Above-average dedication and the ability to work well in a team, as well as the capacity for independent analytical work, computer skills, and fluency in English are required
- High-quality list of publications
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with various research groups
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral)
- A strong sense of responsibility and a willingness to work flexibly and independently
- High motivation and commitment to scientific excellence
- Enthusiasm for mucosal immunology and neuro-immune interactions
- Proven ability to independently design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and publish results

Information regarding the position
- Paygrade E13 according to TVöD VKA-K. Your job grade depends on your job qualification whereas the experience level depends on the number of working years. The yearly gross salary is hereby provided based on a full time position excluding yearly bonus and additional pay. You may find further information here
- Working hours full-time with 38.5 hours per week
- The position is limited until 28.02.2028, as it is tied to the project duration
- 30 days of paid vacation per year
