The Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is dedicated to biomedical translation. Its mission is to translate research findings into personalized prevention, diagnostics, and therapy to help patients and provide science with effective tools for this purpose. The QUEST Center for Responsible Research at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité develops and implements new approaches to ensure that biomedical research is conducted in a trustworthy manner, delivers useful results, and meets ethical standards.

As a student assistant you will work with the technical leader and the project leader of the MERIT project (AG Kip) to assist with the quality assurance and further development of tools designed to support robust research assessment (MERIT). With such tools we can support research assessment with evidence-based criteria and structured assessment. We use these tools to evaluate and develop targeted solutions to improve research assessment.

Overview of the position

  • Manually performing and documenting backbox testing of new features and to detect bugs and unexpected behavior
  • Assisting with writing and maintaining automated test
  • Assisting in writing of documentation (user manuals and data base annotations)
  • Assisting in data analysis and visualizations for the project evaluation 

What we are looking for

  • Attention to detail, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks in a consistently high-quality manner

  • A willingness to learn about software testing and strategies for improving transparency and reproducibility in software development

  • Experience with Django framework and Python programming languages (basic skills sufficient)

  • Sufficient English language skills

Desirable skills include:

  • Prior experience with software testing or development, data science or visualizations is beneficial, but not required

Information regarding the position

  • Pay scale is TV Stud III. You can find the labor agreement here
  • The hourly wage across the Charité is 15.08 Euro
